2015 NoPassport Conference: FRAGILE SHORES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NoPassport invites you to the:

9th annual NoPe - NoPassport Theatre Conference

DREAMING THE AMERICAS: FRAGILE SHORES

NoPassport presents a two-month, nomadic, mobile, local-to-virtual theatre conference initiated and curated by Caridad Svich (2012 OBIE for Lifetime Achievement) exploring global environmental and human rights issues, as they are reflected in practice and theory in theatre and performance. From March 1st to May 1st, 2015, on NoPassport’s fragileshore channel on youtube, we will accept panels and work sessions (45-50 minutes) and short performances (20-25 minutes) that in some way address aspects of environmental concerns related to climate change or other issues, and global human rights. For the past eight consecutive years, NoPassport (www.nopassport.org) has held live conferences at LSU-Baton Rouge, ASU-Tempe, NYU Gallatin, Nuyorican Poets Café and Martin E. Segal Theatre Center at CUNY Graduate Center. Our mission has always been mobile and nomadic, and for the first time, we are staging a nomadic, telematic conference, where anyone in the world can take part: local to global.

We are particularly interested in sessions & works that focus on First Nations artists, practitioners and scholars involved in climate change initiatives, and students and practitioners interested in exploring the body politic through theatrical testimony, verbatim theatre, immersive work and hybrid performance practices. What does living on a “fragile shore” mean to you and your communities?

Proposals are accepted effective immediately at fragileshore@gmail.com

If your proposal is accepted, then simply hold a session at your local theatre, café, garage, basement, university, or living room. Record it on Imovie, send it to our YouTube channel starting March 1st. All sessions will be captioned and presented as “in partnership with” NoPassport.
